Gala Benefit for Golden Rule

September 14, 2016 @ 10:00 am - 8:00 pm

$25

Help the Golden Rule keep sailing on her mission to bring about a nuclear-free world and a peaceful, sustainable future!

On Wednesday September 14 the Golden Rule peace boat will be the star of the day, available for free tours all day at the Museum of History and Industry, right next door to the Lake Union Center for Wooden Boats (CWB).  The party at CWB starts at 5 pm with a no-host bar, food, music, and a chance to talk with the crew and shore support.  ($25) At 6:30 is a presentation about the Golden Rule’s history and mission.

In 1958 four Quakers tried to sail the Golden Rule to the Marshall Islands to interfere with atmospheric nuclear bomb tests.  She was rescued from a watery grave in 2010 and was restored by dozens of volunteers and with help from hundreds of donors.  She is now a National Project of Veterans For Peace.

10 am to 6:30 pm Boat tours at MOHAI: free

5:00 to 6:30 pm Food, no-host bar, music by Michael Stern who wrote our theme song, “The Ballad of the Golden Rule” at Lake Union Center for Wooden Boats, 1010 Valley Street, Seattle $25

6:30 to 8 pm Presentation of the history, mission and plans for the Golden Rule.  Then discuss nuclear issues today and actions you can take to help reduce the possibility of nuclear war.
