Navigating the Waters – Nuclear Warfare, the Environment, and Sailing for Peace

The historic Golden Rule anti-nuclear sailboat will be in San Francisco Bay June 20 – 29, sailing in support of the UN Treaty to Ban Nuclear Weapons.

Join us Monday, June 26, for the following speakers: 

Dr. Robert Gould

Dr. Gould is President of the San Francisco-Bay Area Chapter of Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR), Director of Health Professional Outreach and Education for the UCSF Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment, and Chairperson of the Peace Caucus of the American Public Health Association. Dr. Gould will talk about the Humanitarian Costs of Nuclear War, “Modernizing” the U.S. Nuclear Arsenal, and the United Nations Nuclear Weapons Ban.

Mary Sweeters

Mary Sweeters is a Climate and Energy Campaigner with Greenpeace USA. She works to fight the undue influence of the oil industry in solidarity with communities affected by oil extraction, pollution, and climate change, and to advocate for a just transition to a clean energy economy. Ms. Sweeters will talk about Greenpeace, inspired by the Golden Rule, and her work in Climate and Energy.

Helen Jaccard – Project Manager of the Veterans For Peace Golden Rule Project

To round out our evening, hear the amazing history of the Golden Rule and its mission to avoid the very real possibility of nuclear war.
